I am excited to start my second year at Holy Cross. Fifth graders are always full of energy, inquisitive, and fun. I am lucky to be around them five days each week! In fifth grade, we begin switching classes in order to prepare for Junior High (which starts in 6th). I teach math and science to both fifth grade homerooms, as well as teaching grammar, spelling, writing, and religion to my own homeroom. I am fortunate because I get to build relationships with all of the fifth grade students. In addition to teaching 5th grade, I am also the JV and Varsity Scholastic Bowl coach. Our season begins in February, and lasts until April.
I abide by the Common Core standards and Next Generation Science Standards while creating a hands-on learning environment.
In math, we cover the following: Place Value Decimals (understanding decimals, multiplying decimals, dividing decimals) Fractions (understanding part of whole, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions) Geometric Shapes Units of Measure and Conversions
In Science, we focus on the following topics: Life Science Earth Science Engineering Physical Science
